万圣节的故事 The Halloween Tree

关于万圣节有这样一个故事。是说有一个叫杰克的爱尔兰人，因为他对钱特别的吝啬，就不允许他进入天堂，而被打入地狱。但是在那里他老是捉弄魔鬼撒旦，所以被踢出地狱，罚他提着灯笼永远在人世里行走。

One story about Jack， an Irishman， who was not allowed into Heaven because he was stingy with his money. So he was sent to hell. But down there he played tricks on the Devil (Satan)， so he was kicked out of Hell and made to walk the earth forever carrying a lantern.

在十月三十一日爱尔兰的孩子们用土豆和萝卜制作“杰克的灯笼”，他们把中间挖掉、表面上打洞并在里边点上蜡烛。为村里庆祝督伊德神的万圣节，孩子们提着这种灯笼挨家挨户乞讨食物。这种灯笼的爱尔兰名字是“拿灯笼的杰克”或者“杰克的灯笼”，缩写为Jack-o'-lantern 。

Well， Irish children made Jack's lanterns on October 31st from a large potato or turnip， hollowed out with the sides having holes and lit by little candles inside. And Irish children would carry them as they went from house to house begging for food for the village Halloween festival that honored the Druid god Muck Olla. The Irish name for these lanterns was "Jack with the lantern" or "Jack of the lantern，" abbreviated as " Jack-o'-lantern" and now spelled "jack-o-lantern."

每年万圣节前夕，孩子都会戴上奇怪的面具，穿上吓人的服装。大多数孩子会扮成电影中或者传说他们喜欢的英雄或怪物。

Every Halloween children will put on strange masks and frightening costumes. Most children will make themselves become the monster or hero in the movie or legend that they like.

当他们化妆完后，他们会带着袋子挨家挨户去玩“不给糖就捣蛋”的游戏。大人们就会把准备好的糖果放进他们的袋子里。所以说，万圣节是孩子们最喜欢的节日。

When they finish the make up, they will carry bags from house to house to play the game, “Trick or treat”. The adults will put the treat candy into their bags. Thus, Halloween is the most favorable festival for children.

不仅小孩喜欢这个节日，连大人也喜欢。大人们会在画完妆后参加聚会。这可以给他们带来年轻的快感。

Not only the kids like the festival, but also some grown-ups love it. They will join parties after making up. This brings them the SATisfACTion of being young.

万圣节特色食物??

万圣节有几样吃的东西是必备的：南瓜派、苹果、糖果，有的地方还会准备上等的牛羊肉。

棉花糖南瓜 Marshmallow pumpkins

棉花糖南瓜看起来并不恐怖，味道很好，尤其是放在热可可或血腥饮料里。拿一些白棉花糖(或者任何你能找到的颜色)，把边缘加热，熔在一起做成小南瓜。用食物色素和糖浆作装饰或者让你家的小家伙们为你干这个活。

Marshmallow pumpkins don’t look creepy, they taste amazing, especially in hot cocoa or bloody drink. Grab some white marshmallows (or any color you’ll find), heat the edges and fuse them together to create little pumpkins. Use food coloring and syrups to decorate your marshmallow pumpkins or let your little ones to do this job for you.

万圣节曲奇 Halloween cookies

万圣节曲奇饼形状、大小、颜色各异。从南瓜、幽灵、猫头鹰、骷髅头和骨头形状到巫师帽、蝙蝠、蜘蛛和黑猫的形状都有，现在你可以做很多万圣节曲奇的形状，还可以在万圣节聚会时用。要做出最怪异的饼干要花更多时间，但绝对值得一试。

Halloween cookies come in different shapes, sizes and colors. From pumpkins, ghosts, owls, skulls and bones to witches’ hats, bats, spiders and black cats, there are a host of Halloween cookies that you can make today or for your Halloween party. It may take a bit more time to make the spookiest cookies, but it’s well worth it.
